The world's first Fair Trade chocolate
We have been Fair Trade pioneers since 1991. Chocolat Bernrain developed one of the first Fair Trade chocolate in partnership with OS3, known today as claro fair trade AG, in 1991.
Direct collaboration with farmers' cooperatives
For over 20 years we have sourced cocoa from El Ceibo in Bolivia and sugar from Alter Trade in the Philippines. A number of partnerships with farmers' cooperatives around the world has become established over the years.
Support and training
We support our partners in the establishment of nurseries for new cocoa trees, as well as with the installation of and upgrades to fermentation and drying facilities. Our training programmes are directed at improving the quality of cocoa beans that are grown and processed.
Direct support of projects in hazelnut production
Chocolat Stella Bernrain relates the whole hazelnut demand for own chocolate from the Foundation Happy Hazelnut. We support the project in various fields. With our commitment we want to support prevention efforts. Child labor in the hazelnut harvesting production must be excluded.
